AT&T has opened its first Connected Learning Center in New Jersey, located at the Raritan Bay Area YMCA in Perth Amboy. The initiative aims to provide digital resources and training for community members who lack internet access or digital skills.
Jaci Kator, AT&T Regional Vice President, said on News 12+’s “Minding Your Business,” “There are many people who don’t have access to the Internet, they don’t have a laptop, they don’t even know how to use email or create a resume … so our mission is to help millions of people throughout the country … connect and be connected to have the resources that they need.”
Steve Jobin, President of Raritan Bay Area YMCA, highlighted local challenges: “Connectivity in rental units and so forth, which is a big part of our residency, is [limited and] that creates challenges. It’s just super important in today’s day and age to be able to at least have some place to go and this is a new asset to [Perth Amboy] that we really needed, specifically, in this area of town.”
The discussion took place on NJBIA’s weekly television program “Minding Your Business,” which has received several Telly Awards in recent years for its interview and talk show format.
The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), which produces the TV show, is recognized as the largest statewide employer organization in the United States. It represents businesses across various sectors including manufacturing and services. The association supports employers by offering advocacy, essential information, cost-saving benefits, and by fostering partnerships among businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions. More information about NJBIA can be found on their official website.
Michele Siekerka serves as president and chief executive officer of NJBIA.
