Atlantic City Electric announced on Mar. 27 that customers struggling with higher energy bills following a record cold winter can access a range of financial assistance programs to help maintain essential energy service.
The company said these efforts are important as many households face increased costs and may be at risk of falling behind on their payments. “We know many of our customers are feeling the impact of higher energy bills, and we want them to know they’re not alone,” said David Vosvick, vice president of Customer Operations for Pepco Holdings, which includes Atlantic City Electric. “Our teams are working every day to connect customers with assistance programs that can help ease financial stress and provide relief right now. At the same time, we’re continuing to push for solutions that keep energy affordable over the long term. Most importantly, we want customers to reach out—help is available, and we’re here to support them.”
The company connects eligible residents with resources such as its Customer Relief Fund, federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Single Stop tool, and other support options designed for those facing financial strain. Through The Exelon Promise initiative, Atlantic City Electric recently expanded its $4.5 million Customer Relief Fund to offer one-time grants up to $500 per qualifying customer.
LIHEAP offers annual grants up to $1,278 depending on household circumstances; applicants do not need overdue balances and eligibility extends across homeowners, renters, roomers or subsidized housing residents. Applications can be made through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs website or by phone.
Other programs include the Universal Service Fund (USF), which helps make utility bills more affordable; SHARES provides temporary assistance; PAGE supports those in crisis situations; while tools like Single Stop allow users to privately check eligibility for additional benefits including housing or food aid.
Customers who do not qualify for LIHEAP or require further support are encouraged by Atlantic City Electric’s Customer Care team to reach out directly by phone or through their online portal.
