Attorney General’s Office investigates fatal crash in Evesham Township

The Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability announced on March 20 that it is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Marlton section of Evesham Township, Burlington County. The incident took place at approximately 4:38 a.m. near the intersection of Route 73 and Lincoln Drive, resulting in the death of an adult male civilian. The identities of both the deceased and the officer involved have not been released.

According to officials, an Evesham Township police officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop when the civilian vehicle collided with another uninvolved civilian vehicle. The police vehicle was not involved in the actual collision. The driver of the first civilian vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Attorney General’s Office said that its investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time. State law requires that any death occurring during an encounter with law enforcement or while a person is in custody must be investigated by the Attorney General’s Office and presented to a grand jury for review.
