Attorney John P. Gray has joined Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP as a partner in the Environmental and Energy & Renewable Resources practice areas, according to an announcement from the firm on Tuesday. Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP is a longtime member of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association.

Gray brings nearly 24 years of experience in environmental law and regulatory compliance. His background includes significant roles at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and NJ TRANSIT. At NJDEP, Gray led permitting for complex projects such as electric generation facilities, major remediation efforts, and large-scale infrastructure developments. He also served as a legislative liaison on regulatory matters and policy formulation issues.

During his time at NJ TRANSIT, Gray managed legal services and was responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state funding requirements. He also responded to audits and inquiries from agencies including the U.S. Department of Justice.

“After two decades of delivering critical environmental and construction guidance in public service roles, I’m eager to take on new challenges by working with Greenbaum’s amazing team to help our clients tackle their legal challenges and successfully meet their business goals,” Gray said. “In a constantly changing landscape of complex regulations, I look forward to delivering solutions that assist clients with meeting their evolving needs.”

Gray is affiliated with NAIOP New Jersey and the New Jersey Licensed Site Remediation Professionals Association. He holds a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.S. from the University of Scranton.

He will be based in Greenbaum’s Iselin office.
