Berkeley College hosted its 14th Annual Women’s History Month celebration on March 2, bringing together leaders from business, government, and the nonprofit sector to discuss community and progress. The event at the Woodland Park campus was titled “Moving Forward Together Positively: Continuing the Conversation” and aimed to build on last year’s momentum by renewing energy for women’s empowerment, leadership, and self-advocacy.
Althea D. Ford, Vice President of Government Affairs at the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA), delivered the keynote address. Ford spoke about how progress is a continuous commitment that spans generations, industries, and genders. “Progress is not a moment; it is a commitment,” Ford said. “Progress means creating spaces where women do not have to shrink, soften, or second guess their leadership to belong, and that is where real collaboration matters most.” She added, “There is not ‘room’ for women at the table – there is a ‘need’ for women at the table.”
Diane Recinos, Ed.D., President of Berkeley College, said that history is rooted in opportunity. “This year is particularly special as Berkeley College celebrates 95 years of putting students first. Today’s program reflects the power of partnership between education, government, business, and community organizations,” Recinos said.

Women’s History Month celebrations will continue next week at Berkeley College’s New York City campus with an event featuring influential authors who will discuss challenges and opportunities facing women today. The March 19 panel discussion will include voices from media, business, policy, and international affairs.
