Barbara Horl, a trustee at Brookdale Community College, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges (NJCCC). The committee is made up of four community college trustees and three community college presidents who oversee the activities of the NJCCC.

Horl has served as a trustee at Brookdale since 2019. Her background includes leadership positions with the New Jersey Department of State, the New Jersey Department of Education, and the New Jersey School Boards Association. She is also a long-term resident of Monmouth County and has served on local boards of education.

Horl is currently the trustee chair of the Council’s State and Federal Policy Committee. In this role, she has worked to inform state leaders in Trenton and federal officials in Washington, D.C., about community colleges’ importance. She has also participated in national discussions on community college leadership through her involvement with the Association of Community College Trustees’ Leadership Congress.

“Trustee Horl is an expert on education and state policy and brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role on the Council’s Executive Committee,” said Sheetal Ranjan, Ph.D., chair of the NJCCC Executive Committee and a trustee at Bergen Community College.

“Trustee Horl has made significant positive contributions as vice chair of the Board at Brookdale Community College and will make important contributions to our statewide collaborative efforts as a member of the Council’s Executive Committee,” added David Stout, Ph.D., president of Brookdale Community College.
