Cigna Healthcare announced on Apr. 14 that Berkeley College has received its gold-level Healthy Workforce Designation for its efforts to improve employee health and vitality through a workplace well-being program.
The recognition places Berkeley College among only 15 organizations in New Jersey to earn the 2025 gold-level designation from Cigna Healthcare. The award highlights the importance of workforce well-being as a factor in business and community growth, with healthier employees linked to stronger work-life engagement.
The Cigna Healthy Workforce Designation evaluates companies based on several components of their wellness programs, including insights into workforce needs, strategy and culture, engagement levels, and additional areas. At Berkeley College, employee health initiatives include biometric screenings, virtual Lunch and Learn sessions, and Wellness Fairs. These programs are recognized for promoting both engagement and accessibility among staff.
“At Berkeley College, we know that when our associates thrive, our students benefit,” said Janette Williamson, Director of Human Resources at Berkeley College. “By offering accessible wellness programs both online and on-site, we foster greater engagement, healthier habits, and stronger work-life balance among our employees.”
Bryan Holgerson, President of Cigna Healthcare U.S., said: “Employers that prioritize workforce vitality – by addressing workplace stress, promoting healthy behaviors, and fostering a sense of competence, autonomy, and connection – are supporting employee well-being and driving organizational success.” He added: “As a company committed to creating better healthcare experiences and outcomes, we are proud to recognize and celebrate employers who are building cultures of well-being across all dimensions of vitality.”
