Diana C. Manning has joined McCarter & English as a partner in its Newark office, bringing over three decades of experience in complex commercial litigation, appellate advocacy, and legal ethics. Previously, Manning worked at Bressler, Amery & Ross, where she played a significant role in developing the firm’s litigation and legal ethics practice and held leadership positions including managing principal and chair of the Business and Commercial Litigation group.

Joseph T. Boccassini, Firmwide Managing Partner at McCarter & English, stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Diana to the firm. As one of the most prominent advocates and industry leaders within the state, Diana has built a robust litigation, appellate, and ethics and compliance practice, and we know that her career will continue to flourish at McCarter.”

Manning is recognized for her work as both a trial and appellate attorney. She has represented clients in business disputes, professional liability matters, legal malpractice cases, and provided counsel on ethical compliance issues. She is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney and has argued nine cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Her involvement extends beyond litigation; Manning currently serves as Second Vice President of the New Jersey State Bar Association with plans to become its president in 2028. She has also chaired ethics committees appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey and frequently writes and speaks about attorney ethics and litigation strategy. Manning authored the New Jersey chapter for “The Law of Lawyer’s Liability: Fifty-State Survey of Legal Malpractice” published by ABA/First Chair Press.

“I have long respected and admired both the professionalism and skill of McCarter attorneys and am excited to be working alongside them in this new chapter of my career,” said Manning. “As I take my practice to the next level, I couldn’t refuse the opportunity to join such a distinguished firm. I look forward to all that we plan to accomplish together.”

Manning holds a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law as well as a B.A. in economics and political science from Rutgers College.
