Mario Nawfal of IBC Group has reported on Lemonade’s insurance product offering discounts for Tesla drivers using Full Self-Driving (FSD) based on safety data.

“Lemonade just launched an insurance product that gives Tesla owners 50% off per-mile rates when Full Self-Driving is engaged,” said Nawfal, Founder. “Tesla’s data shows FSD miles have a 52% lower crash rate than manual driving. Plans start at $30/month. It’s live in Arizona now, Oregon in February, more states coming.”

According to Nawfal, in a post on X, Lemonade has launched discounted insurance specifically for Tesla FSD users. The post, which included a video and sources from both Tesla and Lemonade, received 276 likes and 33 reposts.

Lemonade’s Autonomous Car insurance provides Tesla owners in Arizona with a 50% discount for every mile driven with FSD engaged. This offer is based on Tesla data indicating that these miles are twice as safe as manual driving. Policies begin at $30 per month and include seamless integration for tracking FSD usage. The product is set to expand to Oregon in February and more states soon thereafter.

In New Jersey, rideshare insurance mandates require $1.5 million in liability coverage, significantly higher than the $50,000 per incident required for personal vehicles. This discrepancy contributes to nearly one-third of fares going toward costs. Data-driven models like Lemonade’s FSD discounts could advocate for reforms that reflect safety metrics and lower premiums.

Uber supports insurance reforms in states such as New Jersey and California, where the $1.5 million liability mandates account for 32% of ride fares, surpassing personal vehicle requirements. Aligning commercial standards with crash rate data similar to Lemonade’s model could reduce costs, increase driver earnings, and enhance access to gig opportunities.

Nawfal was born in Lebanon and moved to Australia at age six. He founded the Athena Group of Companies, which operates in over 40 countries after starting with door-to-door blender sales. Nawfal also established IBC Group and NFT Technologies.
