NACD New Jersey announced on Mar. 27 that it will hold a half-day program titled ‘Board Pathways: Insights for Aspiring and Seasoned Directors’ on April 14 at Canoe Brook County Club in Short Hills.
The event aims to provide practical guidance for individuals interested in serving on boards and those looking to enhance their governance skills. The program is designed to address both the challenges and opportunities facing current and future board directors.
Speakers at the event include Alice Brennan, Independent Board Director and Director of NACD New Jersey Chapter; Jeannie Diefenderfer, Independent Director and Chair of NACD New Jersey Chapter; Michael Marino, Managing Director and Head of FW Cook’s New York Office; and Michele Siekerka, President and CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA).
Sessions will cover topics such as the realities of board recruitment, best practices for integrating external expertise into governance frameworks, strategies for effective directorship, navigating personal liability issues including directors’ and officers’ coverage, technological risks, shareholder litigation trends, activist threats in the proxy landscape for 2026, as well as maximizing influence within boardrooms. The program also highlights the importance of continuous professional development through industry networks like NACD.
