The New Jersey Department of Agriculture has collaborated with Rutgers University and other organizations to launch the NJ ManureLink website. This platform is designed to connect livestock farmers, composters, and those interested in utilizing manure or compost. The initiative received support from a Conservation Innovation Grant provided by the USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service.

“This valuable online resource for farmers and composters is a result of work by our own staff as well as the diligent efforts of our partners at Rutgers and other organizations,” said New Jersey Assistant Secretary of Agriculture Joe Atchison III. “These partnerships allow us to serve the New Jersey agricultural community in a more effective manner.”

The NJ ManureLink site, which went live earlier this month, provides listings based on geographic location within New Jersey. Users can sign up for notifications regarding availability of resources they need. The project aims to help farms with limited land capacity distribute their manure effectively.

In addition, the New Jersey Composting Council will conduct outreach activities such as webinars and field days scheduled for July 2024. These events will educate participants on topics like composting, nutrient management, and integrating organic materials into farming practices.

Livestock farmers, composters, and producers across various agricultural sectors are encouraged to participate in these educational opportunities.
