The New Jersey Libertarian Party has issued a statement calling for the abolition of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The party emphasized its commitment to protecting individual rights for everyone, regardless of background or origin.

“We Libertarians are firm in our commitment to the preservation of the inherent individual rights of all, regardless of race, creed, color or country of origin. We wholly reject the casual dismissal of human value by the fearmongering of our elected officials. Any pretext about the safety and security of the American people and its national borders was lost the moment that ICE agents targeted American citizens and aimed to strip us of our constitutional rights. This is blatant and definitional authoritarianism, which we deny completely. No imagined threats from foreigners, nor the promise of financial gain justifies what is happening in our country. In the immortal words of Benjamin Franklin, ‘They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety,'” stated the New Jersey Libertarian Party.

The message was signed by Bruno Pereira on behalf of the organization.
