What happened to Mr. Kirk on September 10, 2025, has drawn a response from the New Jersey Libertarian Party. The party stated, “What happened to Mr. Kirk on September 10th, 2025 was inexcusable. No one should have their life taken simply because of what they say. Given Mr. Kirk’s lifelong championing of free speech, it would be utterly disgraceful to his memory and mission to abandon it now. Anyone who calls for the disempowerment or harming of another in response to this tragedy is aligning themselves with his killer.”

The statement highlights the party’s position on free speech and its opposition to violence or retaliation based on individuals’ expressions.
