New Jersey Turnpike introduces universal EV chargers at key service areas

Service areas on the New Jersey Turnpike are set to transition to Universal Open Access EV chargers starting June 6. These chargers, supplied by Applegreen Electric, are designed to be compatible with all electric vehicle makes and models.

As of June 6, universal chargers will be operational at several service areas including Vince Lombardi, Woodrow Wilson, Richard Stockton, James Fenimore Cooper, Joyce Kilmer, and Walt Whitman. The Turnpike Authority is collaborating with Applegreen to activate these chargers at three additional locations. The Molly Pitcher Service Area is scheduled for July 2025 availability, while Clara Barton and John Fenwick Service Areas expect operational chargers by Fall 2025.
