New Jersey WasteWise Business Network opens registration for free online waste reduction seminar

Businesses and organizations in New Jersey have the opportunity to learn about waste reduction, recycling, and purchasing recycled products at an upcoming online seminar hosted by the New Jersey WasteWise Business Network. The event is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, from 10 a.m. to 12:05 p.m., and registration is now open.

The seminar is free of charge and offers New Jersey Certified Recycling Professionals the chance to earn 1.5 recertification credits by attending.

Speakers at the event will cover several topics related to recycling and sustainability. Carole Tolmachewich, Principal Planner at Middlesex County Solid Waste Management Office and Board Member of the Association of New Jersey Recyclers, will provide a legislative update on recycling and waste management. Persis Garg, Founder of Good Guardians/SecondVerse, will discuss the SecondVerse Notebook Recovery/Waste Reduction Initiative.

JoAnn Gemenden, Executive Director of the NJ Clean Communities Council, will present updates on single-use plastics, focusing on initiatives such as Skip the Stuff, the Reusable Bag Resource Center, and anti-litter messaging. Eileen L. Poiani, Ph.D., Chair of the Sustainability Council and Professor of Mathematics at Saint Peter’s University, will share insights into the university’s successful waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability efforts. Terina Nicole Hill, a sustainable fashion designer and educator, will introduce participants to sustainable fashion.
