Bloustein School graduate planning studios have initiated plans for a proposed PATH station to serve Liberty International Airport (EWR). Over 100 graduate students from Rutgers, UPenn, and NJIT have been involved in research and planning efforts related to this PATH extension and the surrounding community. The series of studios included neighborhood plans for South Ward’s Dayton and Weequahic neighborhoods, a master plan for the airport, and a corridor study of Frelinghuysen Avenue.
The planning initiative aims to enhance transit connectivity in Newark by integrating the new PATH station with existing infrastructure. This project is part of broader efforts to develop transit-oriented communities around major transportation hubs.
The collaborative effort involves several stakeholders, including city planners, academic institutions, and local communities. The project’s goal is to create a comprehensive plan that addresses both transportation needs and community development.
