New Jersey American Water, in collaboration with the American Water Charitable Foundation, has announced the opening of applications for its Hydration Station Grant Program. The initiative, previously known as the Reusable Water Bottle Filling Station Grant Program, aims to promote sustainable hydration and reduce single-use plastic waste by funding touch-free water bottle filling stations in public areas.

Organizations eligible to apply include 501(c)(3) public charities, K–12 public schools, colleges, or universities within New Jersey American Water’s service area. These organizations must be accessible to the public and will be responsible for installation costs.

Mark McDonough, president of New Jersey American Water and board member of the American Water Charitable Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about continuing the program. “We’re thrilled to launch the second year of this impactful grant program in partnership with the American Water Charitable Foundation,” he said. He noted that last year’s response indicated a strong demand for such hydration stations.

Sara Moran from Orca Youth Sports shared her positive experience with a station installed at Oak Glen Park through a previous grant. “The station offers players, families and park visitors reliable access to clean drinking water, encourages healthier hydration habits and helps reduce single-use plastic waste,” she stated.

Applications are open until July 11, with recipients being notified in August. More details can be found on New Jersey American Water’s website under the Hydration Station Grant Program section.

New Jersey American Water serves approximately 2.9 million people across 190 communities as part of its role as a major regulated water utility in the state.
