On the recent episode of “Minding Your Business” on News 12+, Ray Cantor, NJBIA Deputy Chief Government Affairs Officer, discussed the proposed Land Use rules by New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). These rules are expected to significantly affect residents and businesses if they are finalized as planned this summer.

Cantor highlighted a key aspect of the rule concerning projected sea level rise. “The main component of the rule is dealing with a projected sea level rise, which DEP is projecting at five foot by the year 2100, 75 years from now, at a 17% probability,” he explained. He further expressed skepticism about the scientific basis for these projections: “So they’re taking these really low percentage probabilities of it happening, and we think the science is outdated to begin with, projected out to 2100, but applying those standards today.”

“Minding Your Business” is NJBIA’s weekly television program that has received recognition with seven Telly Awards in recent years. This includes a gold award in 2024 for the Interview & Talk Show category.
