In a recent online seminar hosted by the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), HR specialist Judy Sailer discussed methods for effective goal setting. The session, titled “Elevate and Accelerate Your Goal Setting,” focused on comprehensive self-evaluation that extends beyond standard performance metrics to include skills assessment, influence, and communication.

“Evaluation is pro-active, not reactive,” said Sailer during the seminar. “Being proactive and setting your goals is very important for your future. Goals must be strategic and tied to a purpose.”

Sailer introduced participants to advanced goal-setting techniques such as the updated SMARTER framework and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). These approaches are designed to help individuals set goals that are both meaningful and challenging, aligning personal satisfaction with organizational objectives.

Sailer serves as director of Learning & Development at Primepoint HRMS & Payroll. She holds SHRM certification and frequently speaks at training events and business conferences. Her expertise has been recognized in outlets like Forbes and on television programs including “Minding Your Business” on News 12.

The full one-hour seminar video is available online for those interested in learning more about Sailer’s strategies.
