NJBIA Vice President of Government Affairs Althea D. Ford will deliver the keynote address at Berkeley College’s 14th Annual Women’s History Month celebration. The event aims to unite women and men in recognition of community, unity, and shared progress.
The gathering is scheduled for Monday, March 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the college’s Woodland Park Campus at 44 Rifle Camp Road. This year’s theme is “Moving Forward Together Positively: Continuing the Conversation.” Organizers say it builds on last year’s event by fostering dialogue among leaders in community and government from both political parties.
Panelists include Orlando Cruz, Deputy Director of the Passaic County Board of Commissioners and President of the Greater Paterson Chamber of Commerce; Cassandra “Sandi” Lazara, Director of the Passaic County Board of Commissioners; Michael Melham, Mayor of Belleville; Christina Schratz, Passaic County Commissioner; and Howard Haughton, CEO of Eva’s Village.
Eva’s Village is a nonprofit that assists individuals facing food insecurity, homelessness, substance use disorders, and mental health challenges.
The New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA), which Ford represents as vice president, is recognized as the largest statewide employer association in the United States. It represents employers from diverse sectors throughout New Jersey and serves private-sector employers across the state (https://njbia.org/). NJBIA also advances its members’ competitive excellence by providing essential information and services while promoting partnerships among businesses, government agencies, and academic institutions (https://njbia.org/). Michele Siekerka leads NJBIA as its president and chief executive officer (https://njbia.org/).
