The New Jersey Education Association’s political action committee (NJEA PAC) has announced its support for ten candidates in the upcoming New Jersey state Assembly primary election, scheduled for June 10, 2025. This marks the first round of endorsements by the NJEA PAC, which consists of 125 members.

On May 6, the NJEA PAC endorsed several candidates who align with their pro-public education and pro-labor values. The endorsed candidates are:

– LD 16: Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis (D) and Assemblyman Roy Freiman (D)
– LD 27: Assemblywoman Rosaura Bagolie (D) and Assemblywoman Alixon Collazos-Gill (D)
– LD 28: Assemblyman Garnet Hall (D) and Chigozie Onyema (D)
– LD 34: Assemblywoman Carmen Morales (D) and Assemblyman Michael Venezia (D)
– LD 35: Assemblyman Al Abdel Aziz (D) and Orlando Cruz (D)

There are currently 200 candidates vying for the 80 available seats in the state assembly. Each candidate was provided with a questionnaire to express their positions on issues important to NJEA and NJREA members. Screening committees composed of NJEA members from each county will conduct interviews with these candidates before making recommendations to the full NJEA PAC Operating Committee.

The current endorsements will extend to the general election in November if the candidates win their respective primaries. As more counties complete their screenings, additional endorsements from NJEA PAC are expected in the coming months.
