The Camden County Democratic Committee Inc. (CCDC), supported by George Norcross, has filed a lawsuit following their election defeat to a group of progressive Democrats in Cherry Hill. The legal action, initiated on Monday afternoon, challenges the results of the county party committee election.

As a consequence of the lawsuit, the progressive faction is temporarily barred from conducting any official business until a scheduled hearing on July 11 at the Camden County Superior Court.

James Beach, who serves as both the chairman of CCDC and a New Jersey State Senator representing Camden County, has joined the legal challenge against David Stahl, Susan Druckenbrod, and Rena Margulis—the victors of the recent election.

The election results were officially certified last Thursday. In an unexpected outcome, the South Jersey Progressive Democrats secured 62% of the vote in the primary election held on June 10, defeating CCDC.

The South Jersey Progressive Democrats are known as a grassroots political organization that fields candidates for various offices. They have received support from experts in New Jersey elections who have criticized CCDC’s decision to contest the results.

Julia Sass Rubin, director of the public policy program at Rutgers University’s Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, stated: “The voters overwhelmingly chose the progressives.”
