Five partial weekend service suspensions are planned for the PATH rail system in late February, March, and April as part of federally mandated software testing of new track switches and ongoing track replacement work. These suspensions will impact travel between Harrison, Journal Square, and Grove Street stations.

During these weekends, free shuttle buses will replace PATH trains on the affected segments. Service to all other stations will continue as usual.

The schedule includes a suspension of train service between Harrison and Journal Square stations from 11:59 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Additionally, there will be an extra suspension between Journal Square and Grove Street stations from 11:59 p.m. to 9 a.m., both Friday into Saturday and again on Saturdays into Sundays. PATH service will still operate between Newark and Harrison during this period.

On other weekends, the same suspension between Harrison and Journal Square is planned from 11:59 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, with an additional break in service between Journal Square and Grove Street from 11:59 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.

For the final weekends of the project, there will be no service between Harrison and Journal Square from 11:59 p.m. Fridays to 5 a.m. Mondays; however, service to Grove Street station will not be affected at that time.

These track infrastructure improvements are part of the Port Authority’s two-year PATH Forward program that began in spring 2024 and is scheduled for completion this spring. More information about PATH Forward can be found at https://www.panynj.gov/path/en/path-forward.html.
