PATH will suspend service between Harrison and Journal Square stations from 2:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, through 5 a.m. Monday, November 3, due to track construction and repair work. During this period, free shuttle buses will be available for riders between Harrison and Journal Square as well as between Newark-Penn Station and Journal Square.
Train service will continue to operate between Newark-Penn Station and Harrison, on the JSQ-WTC line, and on the JSQ-33 St via Hoboken line. Weekday PATH service is not affected by these weekend changes.
The planned outages are part of ongoing infrastructure improvements under the Port Authority’s two-year $430 million PATH Forward program. The upgrades aim to rehabilitate and modernize the commuter railroad system that has been in operation for 117 years.
Originally scheduled for six weekends, the necessary track replacement work was completed within five weekends. An outage initially planned for October 11-12 was canceled because of bad weather and does not need to be rescheduled. These fall weekend outages were coordinated with other adjustments affecting New Jersey-bound trains on the 33 St-JSQ via Hoboken line since June 2025 to allow additional rail replacement and stabilization work near several PATH stations.
