From late Friday night, October 24, through early Monday morning, October 27, PATH will suspend train service in both directions between Harrison and Journal Square stations to allow for essential track construction and repairs. During this period, free shuttle buses will operate between Harrison and Journal Square as well as between Newark-Penn Station and Journal Square to assist affected riders.
PATH trains will continue to run between Newark-Penn Station and Harrison, on the JSQ-WTC line, and on the JSQ-33 St via Hoboken line. Weekday service is not expected to be impacted by these changes.
These weekend service interruptions are part of a broader effort that began in June 2025 to upgrade rail infrastructure along the 33 St-JSQ via Hoboken line. The ongoing work includes rail replacement and track stabilization at several PATH stations. This project is a component of the Port Authority’s two-year $430 million PATH Forward program, which aims to rehabilitate and modernize the commuter railroad system that has been in operation for 117 years.
“The track infrastructure improvements are a critical part of the Port Authority’s ongoing 2-year $430 million PATH Forward program to rehabilitate and modernize the 117-year-old commuter railroad,” according to the agency.
