The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has issued a travel advisory for the week of July 18 to 24, urging travelers to plan ahead due to lane closures and service changes. The advisory highlights the ongoing $19 billion redevelopment at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), which may cause delays or reroutes.
To encourage airport access via mass transit, the AirTrain JFK single ride fare has been reduced by 50 percent to $4.25 through Labor Day. Travelers are advised to use MTA New York City Transit subway or buses, or MTA Long Island Rail Road for convenient access to JFK.
For those driving, the Port Authority suggests using the free drop-off, pickup, and waiting lot at Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain JFK station. This allows passengers to connect easily to the on-airport AirTrain for an eight-minute ride to terminals.
Additionally, lane closures are planned this week at several major crossings including George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge, and Outerbridge Crossing.
