Raymond Zardetto, a longtime figure in corporate communications and business organizations in New Jersey, died on October 8 at the age of 68. Zardetto’s career included leadership roles in both the private and nonprofit sectors, with significant contributions to the state’s business community.
He most recently served as editor of ROI-NJ’s “Military Matters” publication. Previously, Zardetto was the senior vice president of communications and events at the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce from 2010 to 2022. In this role, he played a key part in Chamber initiatives and worked to raise the profile of New Jersey’s business sector.
Tom Bracken, President & CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, said, “We are saddened and shocked by the sudden news of Ray’s passing. He was an inspiring presence and a strong leader on the Chamber team during his 12 years with us – and he leaves an indelible mark on the Chamber and New Jersey’s business community.”
Zardetto was recognized for his professionalism and positive relationships with colleagues across various organizations. Michele Siekerka, President & CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), stated, “Ray was a true professional and gentleman. Our NJBIA team enjoyed his collegiality and friendship. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues at the State Chamber.”
During his time at the Chamber, Zardetto developed partnerships with military organizations, particularly Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. He supported programs that connected business leaders with military personnel, including serving as an honorary commander at the base.
Even after retiring from the Chamber, Zardetto continued his involvement with military affairs through his editorial work at ROI-NJ.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, professionalism, and joy will forever remain with us.”
Zardetto is survived by his wife Rita and two children.
