Beginning May 6, passengers at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s terminals 5 and 7 using ride apps like Uber, Lyft, or Revel, as well as car services, will need to go to a designated pickup lot at AirTrain JFK’s Howard Beach station. This change aims to reduce traffic congestion during the busy summer travel season while major construction is underway at the airport.
The relocation of pickups is set for 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6. It is part of efforts to manage gridlock on terminal frontages as construction progresses on the $19 billion redevelopment project known as “A Whole New JFK.” The development includes new terminals and improvements to the transportation infrastructure.
Passengers arriving at terminals 5 or 7 should collect their baggage and proceed by following signs to AirTrain JFK. They should board the train heading toward Howard Beach (green line), disembark there, and exit towards Ride App Pick Up & Long Term Parking. From this point, they can contact their driver or request a ride via their preferred app.
Customer service representatives and baggage handlers will be available at the Ride App Pickup Lot to assist travelers. Free Wi-Fi will also be accessible at the Howard Beach station.
