Rider University announced on Mar. 27 that it is accepting applications for its Veteran Entrepreneurship Training program, a free six-week course designed to help veterans, their spouses, and dependents develop business ideas or expand existing ventures.

The initiative aims to provide veterans with the skills needed to start or grow a business. The program is limited to 20 participants, allowing for personalized feedback as students work on developing a business concept and conducting feasibility analysis.

Participants will have access to Rider’s resources and be paired with a business mentor who will offer specific guidance on their venture idea. Dr. Ron Cook, professor of entrepreneurship and instructor for the program, said, “As the program enters its 13th year, I am continually impressed by the veterans. They are eager to learn, and I’ve seen some successful businesses develop as a result of their efforts in the program. My goal is to show them a process to evaluate their ideas so they can make better business decisions.”

The Center’s advisory board members and alumni also serve as mentors during the course. Rider University has been recognized as a Yellow Ribbon school for its support of veterans and military members. Recently, it was ranked No. 21 on U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges for Veterans – Regional Universities North list and honored by Colleges of Distinction.

Applications are open through May 8 unless capacity is reached earlier. Classes will be held Wednesday evenings from May 13 through June 24 at Rider University’s campus from 6-9 p.m., with more information available at rider.edu/vep.
