The New Jersey Business and Industry Association announced on Apr. 1 that voting is now open for the Round of 16 in the Coolest Thing Made in New Jersey competition, a contest launched by Manufacturing Counts, a partnership between NJBIA and the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program to promote manufacturing awareness.
The competition aims to highlight products made within the state and bring attention to local manufacturers. According to organizers, nearly 29,000 votes have already been cast since the start of the contest presented by Withum.
In this second round, which runs through April 6 at 11:59 p.m., voters can choose their preferred products from matchups featuring items such as precision liners, ultrasonic cleaning systems, veterinary therapy devices, anti-gravity suits for pilots, canned cranberry sauce, arctic-grade mobile laboratories, bakery equipment, welding kits for railroads, Navy flight deck jerseys designed for safety on aircraft carriers, high-powered DC power supplies for lasers and space exploration platforms, battery-powered crawlers capable of moving heavy loads with zero emissions, water-integrated railing systems for outdoor spaces, waste-to-feed transformation systems from brewing byproducts or composting solutions,
motorcycle jackets originally created in 1928 and still produced today,
and superconductors used in MRI scanners and fusion machines.
People may submit one ballot per day per device after selecting a product for each matchup. The winner will be announced at the State of the State of Manufacturing event scheduled for May 21 in Trenton. The winning company will receive an award along with coverage in upcoming issues of New Jersey Business Magazine and Manufacturing Matters Magazine.
Last year’s contest drew nearly 40,000 online votes over four rounds before Geared Power won with its BioGuard UVC mask. More information about this year’s contest is available online.
