Port Authority announces travel advisories affecting major bridges, tunnels, airports

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has issued a travel advisory for the week of June 7 to June 13, urging travelers to plan ahead due to multiple lane closures and service changes at various transportation facilities.

Air travelers should be aware that ongoing construction at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) may cause delays or reroutes. The $19 billion redevelopment project aims to transform JFK into a world-class global gateway. Travelers are encouraged to use mass transit options such as the AirTrain JFK, which connects Grand Central Terminal or Penn Station with Jamaica station in approximately 20 minutes.

The following lane closures are planned:

**George Washington Bridge:**

- From Friday night through Saturday morning, several eastbound and westbound lanes on both upper and lower levels will be closed.

- Ramps from Center Avenue, Henry Hudson Parkway, and 179th Street will also experience closures during this period.

- Additional closures are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

**Holland Tunnel:**

- The New Jersey-bound tube will be closed from Friday night through Saturday morning due to Superstorm Sandy-related repairs. Similar overnight closures will continue through 2025.

- One eastbound lane will be closed nightly from Sunday through Thursday.

**Lincoln Tunnel:**

- The center tube will be closed on Saturday morning and again on Monday morning.

- Overnight closures of the north tube are scheduled from Monday through Wednesday.

**Bayonne Bridge:**

- Lane closures are planned throughout the week during daytime hours.

**Goethals Bridge:**

- Westbound lanes will experience nighttime closures on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

At Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal B, TSA screening technology upgrades may result in extended security wait times from Monday morning through Friday night. Passengers should arrive at least three hours before their departure time.

Construction at JFK has led to changes in pick-up locations for for-hire vehicles and taxis at Terminal 5. Parking arrangements have also been adjusted, with level 1 of the Yellow Parking Lot now dedicated to individuals with special needs or disabilities.

Rental car services at Newark Liberty International Airport have been consolidated within the Parking A garage. All rental transactions now take place at this new center, connected to terminals B and C via AirTrain Newark.

PATH train services will see significant adjustments:

- Trains between Newark-Penn Station and Journal Square will operate every 40 minutes over the weekend due to track replacement.

- World Trade Center-bound and Hoboken/33 St-bound trains will bypass Grove St station on weekends until the end of June for rehabilitation work.

- Additional trains will run from Exchange Pl to World Trade Center during these weekends.

Travelers using PATH services can find more information on train schedules by visiting the PATH website or downloading the RidePath mobile app.
