Port Authority announces new Allegiant Air route from NY Stewart Airport

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced a new twice-weekly year-round service at New York Stewart International Airport (SWF) via Allegiant Air's route to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This new service is the fifth addition at New York Stewart this year.

The direct flights will operate on Fridays and Mondays starting November 15. Allegiant’s new service enhances New York Stewart's access to warm-weather destinations, including another Florida beach destination also beginning in November.

“New York Stewart has become an excellent choice within our region for those seeking well-priced winter getaways without the need for long flights or leaving the country,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. “We are pleased to welcome additional travelers at New York Stewart that will provide more visitors and economic opportunities for the Hudson Valley region.”

“When winter arrives, travelers in the region will be happy to have more warm-weather getaway options at New York Stewart thanks to this new route on Allegiant Air,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “We encourage travelers to discover the ease of travel through New York Stewart as we work to add even more exciting destinations around the country and the world.”

"The addition of new routes is a testament to the success of our existing service in these communities," said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief revenue officer. “Our network planning team is responsive to consumer demand, constantly looking for opportunities to enhance the leisure travel experience. The new service kicks off just in time to plan warm winter getaways to sought-after coastal destinations.”

The new Allegiant Air service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) will be operated on an Airbus A320 and complements the airline’s current service at New York Stewart to other warm-weather destinations such as Orlando-Sanford, Punta Gorda, St. Pete-Clearwater in Florida, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

New York Stewart offers an economical and convenient alternative within the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area, featuring minimal wait times at security, seamless border and customs checks, and simple baggage claim processes. The airport also provides:

- Nonstop daily service to Reykjavik, Iceland with connections to numerous European cities via PLAY Airlines.

- Service to Fort Myers, Florida; Orlando, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; and upcoming service to Vero Beach, Florida starting in November via Breeze Airways.

- Seasonal service to Vágar via Atlantic Airways, offering the nation’s first nonstop service to the Faroe Islands.
