Port Authority issues travel advisory amid major construction projects

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has issued a travel advisory for the week of July 19 to 25, urging travelers to plan ahead due to lane closures and service changes at several key transportation hubs.

Construction is currently underway at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as part of a $19 billion redevelopment project. As a result, motorists and users of for-hire vehicle services should expect delays or reroutes due to detours or closures within the airport's roadway network. To mitigate congestion, the AirTrain JFK single ride fare has been reduced by 50 percent to $4.25 through Labor Day.

The Port Authority encourages motorists to use the free drop-off, pickup, and waiting lot at the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain JFK station, where passengers can connect to the on-airport AirTrain for an eight-minute ride to airport terminals.

### Lane Closures:

**George Washington Bridge:**

- From 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 19, to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20: Ramp from southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway to eastbound lanes on upper level closed.

- From 10 p.m. Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20: Three eastbound lanes on upper level closed each night until morning.

- From 11 p.m. Friday, July 19, to 8 a.m. Saturday, July 20: All westbound lanes on lower level closed; two westbound lanes on lower level Trans-Manhattan Expressway closed.

- From Saturday morning through Sunday evening various lane closures will occur.

**Holland Tunnel:**

- From Friday night through Thursday morning various toll plaza lanes and tubes will be closed intermittently due to ongoing Superstorm Sandy-related repairs.

**Lincoln Tunnel:**

- Center tube closure scheduled for early morning hours on Saturday.

- Additional tube closures planned for Monday through Thursday nights.

**Bayonne Bridge:**

- One southbound right lane will be closed from Monday through Thursday during daytime hours.

### Airports & AirTrain:

Travelers are advised that various changes are in place at JFK Airport including relocated pickup locations for Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 due to construction work.

Additionally:

- The JFK Expressway is closed for customers traveling to/from Terminal 1.

- Newark Liberty International Airport rental car companies now operate out of a new consolidated rental car center.

### PATH:

Service adjustments include trains operating every 40 minutes between Newark-Penn Station and Journal Square over the weekend due to track replacement.
