Governor Murphy addresses global technology outage involving CrowdStrike and Microsoft

Governor Murphy issued a statement today addressing the global technology outage affecting CrowdStrike software and Microsoft operating systems. The disruption has caused significant impacts, including grounded flights, banking disruptions, and slowed operations for businesses and critical services such as 911 call centers.

Murphy confirmed that the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) was activated at 3:00 a.m. to manage the situation. Guidance has been provided to executive branch agencies on how to respond effectively. Additionally, state authorities are collaborating with county and local governments, 911 call centers, and utilities to evaluate the impact and offer necessary assistance.

Murphy also mentioned that his senior team members, including Laurie Doran, Director of the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness; Colonel Pat Callahan, New Jersey State Police Superintendent; and Chris Rein, Chief Technology Officer, will be providing further updates as the situation progresses.
