NJ Transit begins refund process for unused one-way tickets purchased before June

NJ TRANSIT has initiated the refund process for unused one-way tickets purchased before June 1, 2024. Effective July 1, 2024, all one-way tickets, including rail ten-trip tickets, are valid for 30 days from the date of purchase.

Customers with paper tickets should bring their unused tickets to any ticket office or window and provide contact information along with receipts to expedite the refund process. Those without receipts will need to provide contact information and the last four digits of the credit card used for the purchase. Refunds without receipt or transaction information may take longer to process. NJ TRANSIT staff will document the tickets received and forward them to NJ TRANSIT’s Refund Department for verification and processing. The refund processing is expected to take approximately three to four weeks.

For web tickets, customers should bring printed unused one-way tickets purchased online before June 1, 2024, to a ticket window or office and follow similar instructions as for paper tickets.

Unused Mobile App tickets purchased prior to June 1, 2024, that were unused on August 1, 2024, will be automatically converted into a credit in the customer's electronic wallet within the Mobile App. No action is required from customers to receive this credit.

NJ TRANSIT operates as the nation's largest statewide public transportation system providing over 925,000 weekday trips across bus routes, light rail lines, commuter rail lines, and paratransit service through Access Link. It ranks as the third-largest transit system in the United States with extensive networks linking major points in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia.
