The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has issued a travel advisory for the week of August 9 to 15, urging travelers to plan ahead due to lane closures and service changes at key transportation facilities. These include the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge, and Outerbridge Crossing.
AirTrain Newark will be suspended for routine maintenance from late Saturday night to early Sunday morning. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service. Additionally, PATH trains between Harrison and Journal Square will be suspended on Sunday to accommodate Amtrak work. Shuttle buses will replace trains during this period.
At John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), ongoing construction related to a $19 billion redevelopment project is expected to cause delays and reroutes. To encourage mass transit use, the AirTrain JFK single ride fare has been reduced by 50 percent through Labor Day.
Travelers are advised to use mass transit where possible due to major construction at JFK. For-hire vehicle pickups at Terminal 4 have been relocated to a remote lot with free shuttle bus service provided from Terminal 4.
Detailed lane closure schedules are as follows:
**George Washington Bridge:**
- Aug. 9-10: Various lane closures on upper level eastbound and westbound lanes.
- Aug. 10-11: Continued closures affecting upper level westbound lanes.
- Aug. 11: Two eastbound lanes on the upper level closed from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
**Holland Tunnel:**
- Aug. 9-10: New Jersey-bound tube closed overnight for repairs.
- Aug. 11-15: Eastbound lane closures each night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
**Lincoln Tunnel:**
- Aug. 10 & Aug. 12: Center tube closed overnight.
- Aug. 12-14: North tube closed each night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., with traffic redirected.
**Bayonne Bridge:**
- Aug. 12-16: Southbound right lane closed daily from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Aug.13: Northbound right lane closed from 9 a.m.to3 p.m.
**Goethals Bridge:**
- Aug.13-Aug14: Eastbound left lane closed overnight.
**Outerbridge Crossing:**
- Aug12-Aug13 &Aug13-Aug14 : Westbound right lane and eastbound right lane closed overnight respectively
Additional advisories include changes in airport operations at Newark Liberty International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, along with updates on parking rates and rental car services.
