Acting Governor Tahesha Way has declared a State of Emergency for New Jersey, effective at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, in anticipation of severe weather conditions caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby. The declaration, issued through Executive Order No. 364, covers all 21 counties in the state.
“I have declared a State of Emergency starting at 6:00 p.m. today, August 9, 2024, due to the severe weather impacts caused by Tropical Storm Debby,” said Acting Governor Tahesha Way. “I urge all residents to stay indoors and off of the roads until the storm passes. If you must drive, slow down and use extra caution.”
The Acting Governor also advised motorists to remain off the roads and stay in their homes for safety during the storm's duration.
