The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has issued a travel advisory for the period from September 3 to 5, urging travelers to plan ahead due to scheduled lane closures at key transportation hubs. The advisory affects the George Washington Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, and Bayonne Bridge.
In addition to these closures, significant construction is ongoing at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as part of a $19 billion redevelopment project. This construction may cause delays or reroutes for motorists and those using for-hire vehicle services. Travelers are encouraged to use mass transit options such as MTA New York City Transit subway or buses, or MTA Long Island Rail Road trains from Grand Central Terminal or Penn Station to the AirTrain JFK station at Jamaica.
Specific lane closures are planned as follows:
**George Washington Bridge:**
- Various eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed intermittently from September 3 through September 6.
- Closures include one eastbound lane on the lower-level Trans-Manhattan Expressway on September 3 and multiple lanes on upper levels during nighttime hours throughout the week.
**Holland Tunnel:**
- The New Jersey-bound tube will be closed overnight from September 3 through September 5 due to Superstorm Sandy-related repairs.
- One eastbound lane will also be closed during nighttime hours.
**Lincoln Tunnel:**
- The center tube will be closed overnight on September 3, while the north tube will close overnight on September 4.
**Bayonne Bridge:**
- Southbound left and right lanes will experience daytime closures on September 5 and 6.
At JFK Airport:
- For-hire vehicle pickups at Terminal 4 have been relocated to a remote lot with free shuttle service.
- Similar relocations apply for Terminal 5 pickups now moved to Terminal 7’s Orange Garage roof.
- The taxi stand at Terminal 5 has been moved to the ground level of Terminal's Yellow Parking Garage.
- Level one parking in the Yellow Parking Lot is now reserved for individuals with special needs or disabilities.
Newark Liberty International Airport:

LaGuardia Airport:
