NJEDA issues RFI for apprenticeship training centers and construction grants

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input from qualified entities that provide registered apprenticeship programs. The aim is to gather perspectives on establishing new registered apprenticeship training locations in Overburdened Communities.

The information collected through the RFI will assist both the NJEDA and the New Jersey Department of Labor in understanding the scope and characteristics of a potential grant program. This program would support the planning and implementation of new or expanded training facilities, covering costs related to planning, construction, or renovations. Questions must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on September 9, 2024, with responses due by 5:00 p.m. on September 24, 2024. The RFI can be accessed at Bidding Opportunities – NJEDA.

"The NJEDA is seeking information on the needs, challenges, opportunities, and best practices to build or expand physical locations in Overburdened Communities for apprenticeship training facilities," stated an official release. The responses are expected to enhance understanding of the registered apprenticeship landscape concerning physical training facility locations. The proposed grant program aims to reduce barriers to training and employment while helping New Jersey employers retain qualified workers.

Qualified entities with experience in U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship programs are encouraged to respond.

All questions should be submitted via email no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 9, 2024, with "Questions-2024-[RFI-229]" as the subject line sent to WorkforceInnovation@njeda.gov. Answers will be posted publicly on the NJEDA’s website under Bidding Opportunities – NJEDA as Addendum.

Responses to the RFI must also be submitted via email by 5:00 p.m. on September 24, 2024, with "RFI Response-2024 [RFI-229]" as the subject line sent to WorkforceInnovation@njeda.gov.
