NJ Transit announces NFL season kickoff plans at Metlife stadium

NJ TRANSIT READY TO KICK OFF THE NFL REGULAR SEASON AT METLIFE STADIUM

NEWARK, NJ – Jets and Giants fans can avoid driving and parking by using NJ TRANSIT’s BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line service to MetLife Stadium. Starting this Sunday afternoon, September 8, with the Giants hosting the Minnesota Vikings, NJ TRANSIT will offer train service on the BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line to and from Secaucus Junction for every Jets or Giants home game.

Customers can take any NJ TRANSIT train that stops at Secaucus Junction and transfer to the direct BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line to reach the Meadowlands Rail Station, located near the stadium entrance. Complete gameday rail schedules are available on njtransit.com/MetLifeStadium closer to each event date.

Rail Service to MetLife Stadium:

- Penn Station New York to MetLife Stadium: There is no direct train service from Penn Station New York to MetLife Stadium. Customers may take any NJ TRANSIT train stopping at Secaucus Junction and then transfer to BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line trains. Departure boards at Penn Station New York will display SEC for trains stopping at Secaucus.

- Secaucus Junction to MetLife Stadium: For events with rail service, trains will operate between Secaucus Junction and MetLife Stadium on the BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line. The start time for the rail shuttle varies based on the scheduled start time of the event. Customers should check njtransit.com/MetLifeStadium for complete rail timetables for each event. During peak periods before an event with rail service, trains operate approximately every 10-20 minutes.

- Hoboken to MetLife Stadium: There is limited direct train service from Hoboken to MetLife Stadium on select trains before weekend NFL (regular season and playoff) games, college football games, and other select events. For concerts and weeknight events at MetLife, customers can take any Main, Bergen County, Pascack Valley or Port Jervis Line train to Secaucus and transfer.

Note: Rail will not provide service for the HBCU NY Classic Morehouse College vs. Howard University game on September 14.

Customers traveling on NJ TRANSIT trains to MetLife Stadium should purchase roundtrip tickets from their originating station TO MEADOWLANDS STATION in advance to avoid delays boarding trains. Tickets purchased onboard include a $5 surcharge per ticket.

Rail Service from MetLife Stadium:

- MetLife Stadium to Penn Station New York: There is no direct train service from MetLife Stadium to Penn Station New York. Customers must take BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line trains back to Secaucus Junction and transfer.

- MetLife Stadium to Secaucus Junction: For events with rail service, trains will operate between MetLife Stadium and Secaucus Junction on the BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line. The start time for return trips varies based on event timing; customers should check njtransit.com/MetLifeStadium for details.

- Following an event, there will be limited direct service from Meadowlands Station to Hoboken; otherwise, customers must transfer in Secaucus.

Customers are urged to plan ahead by checking rail schedules for post-event services from Secaucus toward their final destinations using tools like the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App which provides real-time departures and schedule information.

NJ TRANSIT advises that being closer in line after an event results in shorter wait times for boarding trains back toward Secaucus due to high customer volumes.
