Governor Phil Murphy has expressed his satisfaction with the State Senate's confirmation of John Jay Hoffman as an Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. The confirmation, which received bipartisan support, was described by Murphy as a testament to Hoffman's reputation for honesty, integrity, and intellect.
“I am incredibly pleased that the State Senate has confirmed John Jay Hoffman with bipartisan support to serve as an Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court," said Governor Murphy. "As demonstrated by his unanimous confirmation today, John has earned universal respect on both sides of the aisle for his honesty, integrity, and intellect.”
Hoffman has held several high-ranking positions at both federal and state levels during his career. Notably, he served as the Acting Attorney General of New Jersey for nearly three years. Governor Murphy emphasized that Hoffman's addition to the state's highest court would maintain partisan balance and showcase that New Jersey's judicial confirmation process transcends partisan politics.
“Throughout his remarkable career, John has held a number of high-ranking positions at the federal and state levels, including serving as the Acting Attorney General of New Jersey for nearly three years. The addition of Justice Hoffman to our state’s highest court will continue the tradition of partisan balance and once again demonstrate that the judicial confirmation process in New Jersey transcends partisan politics,” Murphy stated.
Governor Murphy also extended his gratitude to key Senate leaders for their support in Hoffman's nomination. “I thank Senate President Scutari, Senate Minority Leader Bucco, Senate Judiciary Chairman Stack, and their colleagues for their support of John’s nomination. I know that Justice Hoffman will serve with distinction and bolster the New Jersey Supreme Court’s well-earned reputation as a national model.”
