New Jersey Transit Police plan emergency drill on Hudson Bergen Light Rail

The New Jersey Transit Police Department's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will conduct a training exercise in collaboration with state, county, and local partners. This drill is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th at the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) Caven Point Facility in Jersey City, starting at 9 a.m.

The exercise aims to evaluate responses to a simulated transportation incident and is expected to last approximately three hours. Residents and customers should anticipate an increased presence of police and emergency personnel around the Caven Point Facility. However, services along the HBLR will remain unaffected.

This event is not open to the public and will be contained within the secured yard facility. Participating entities include the New Jersey Transit Police Department’s personnel alongside:

- New Jersey Transit Office of Emergency Management

- Bayonne Police Department

- Bayonne Fire Department

- Bayonne OEM

- McCabe EMS

- New Jersey Department of Transportation

- HBLR

The New Jersey Transit Police Department conducts several drills annually to simulate various transportation emergency scenarios across its statewide system.

Media members planning to attend must RSVP with NJ TRANSIT Public Information Office before the event.

NJ TRANSIT operates as the largest statewide public transportation system in the nation, providing over 925,000 weekday trips on multiple bus routes, light rail lines, commuter rail lines, and paratransit services. It ranks as the third-largest transit system in the United States.
