NJEA awards over $68K in grants to support educational innovation

The NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in Education has announced the allocation of over $68,000 in grants to support creative educational projects by public school educators. This initiative includes ten grants, three of which are continuation grants for previously funded programs. Visions Federal Credit Union contributed $10,000 to the total amount.

The foundation was established in 1993 with a mission to enhance learning environments through innovative projects. Since its inception, it has distributed more than $2.5 million across 470 projects initiated by public school employees.

This year's grant recipients include:

- Bergen: Global Pages Inspiring Community Voices received $8,703 as a continuation grant from the Harrington Park Education Association.

- Fort Lee Education Association's Yarn Crafters Club was awarded $750.

- Essex County College Administrative Association's Period Poverty - Awareness and Activism project received $10,000.

- Livingston Education Association's The Heritage of Our Middle School: Multi-Cultural Night was granted $5,000.

- Quakertown Education Association's Infento Pro and Discovery Kit to Ignite a Passion for STEAM! received $7,466.

- Kinnelon Education Association's The Chill Zone: A Zen Den and Wellness Center was allocated $9,966.

- Washington Township Education Association's Heart SMART II secured a continuation grant of $9,558.

- High Point Educators Association's Grow Better Together Annual Interdisciplinary Symposium received a Visions Federal Credit Union Grant for Social Justice totaling $7,285.

- Clark Education Association's Social Emotional Learning Through Art in the LLD Class obtained $5,000.

- Winfield Park Teachers Association’s Winter Thyme II received a continuation grant of $4,684.
