Port Authority announces lane closures and service changes impacting major NYC transportation hubs

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has announced several lane closures and service changes affecting major transportation hubs from October 11 to 17. These disruptions are part of ongoing construction projects aimed at improving infrastructure across the region.

At the George Washington Bridge, various lanes will be closed intermittently between October 15 and 18. Similarly, the Holland Tunnel will see closures in its New Jersey-bound tube during nighttime hours due to Superstorm Sandy-related repairs. The Lincoln Tunnel will also experience closures in different tubes on specific dates.

Air travelers should prepare for potential delays at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as redevelopment work continues. The Port Authority advises using mass transit options like MTA services to avoid congestion. For motorists, a free drop-off and pickup lot is available at the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain JFK station.

"Travelers can visit Construction.JFKAirport.com for customized travel impacts," states the Port Authority, highlighting the need for passengers to stay informed about changes.

At Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal B, security screening delays are expected due to airside rehabilitation work. Passengers are encouraged to arrive early for their flights.

The advisory emphasizes that "peak period parking rates are now in effect" at JFK, Newark Liberty, and LaGuardia airports. Travelers are urged to pre-book parking spaces or use public transit options to avoid surcharges and ensure availability.

Additionally, PATH train services will operate on modified schedules over the weekend of October 12-13 due to track work. Increased service capacity is planned for weekday rush hours starting October 14 on certain lines.

For further details on these developments and more information about travel adjustments, customers can visit relevant websites or contact customer service channels provided by the Port Authority.
