Women business leaders discuss assertiveness at NJBIA forum

A recent episode of "Minding Your Business" on News 12+ featured a panel discussion from the New Jersey Business & Industry Association's (NJBIA) 10th annual New Jersey Women Business Leaders Forum. The focus was on how women in the workforce can enhance their assertiveness skills.

The panel included Stephanie Staub from NJCCC & Consortium, Sarah Switlik of Switlik Survival Products, Robin Tabakin from the New Jersey Women’s Chamber, and Monica Dema of MDinc. During the discussion, Monica Dema shared her personal experience with learning to assert herself in her career. She said, “It took me five years in my career to learn the word ‘no.’ I never knew I could say that. I was working 80 some-odd hours and one of my managers said, ‘You know, you can say no to this project because I don’t know where you’ll find the time’ … and it just blew my mind because I had always said ‘yes’ and, I think, once you start saying ‘no,’ after saying ‘yes,’ people understand you really mean it.”

"Minding Your Business," a weekly television show produced by NJBIA, has won seven Telly Awards over the past three years. It includes a gold award in 2024 for the Interview & Talk Show category. The program airs on News 12+ at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday and also at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
