Governor Murphy announces staff changes in intergovernmental affairs

Governor Phil Murphy has announced changes within the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs, promoting CeCe Doherty to Director and appointing Kate Barry as an Aide to the Governor. The department will continue under the leadership of Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Field.

"CeCe has been an incredible asset to the Governor’s Office over the last two years and I look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes as the Director of our Intergovernmental Affairs team," stated Governor Murphy. He added, "I am also thrilled to welcome Kate Barry to the Governor’s Office, and I am confident that under Rob Field’s leadership, this team will continue to succeed and advance the goals of our Administration."

Rob Field praised Doherty's contributions since 2022, noting her outreach efforts in South Jersey. "She has excelled in outreach to elected officials and communities across South Jersey while demonstrating strong leadership abilities and clear communication skills vital for the role of Director," he said. He also expressed enthusiasm about Barry joining the team: "Her strong experience in Morris and Somerset Counties will be a huge benefit for the northwest region of New Jersey."

Before her promotion, Doherty served as Senior Aide since 2022, working with elected officials in southern New Jersey counties. Her previous roles include positions with the US House of Representatives and various nonprofits. She began her career after graduating from Brigham Young University in 2015.

Barry joined as an Aide in July 2024. With a master's degree from University College London, she has worked with environmental non-profits and previously served as Constituent Aide for Somerset County Commissioners.

Both Doherty and Barry bring extensive experience to their new roles, enhancing outreach efforts across New Jersey.
