Offshore wind supplier forum fosters collaboration between NJEDA and NYSERDA

More than 350 participants gathered in Atlantic City to discuss the latest developments in offshore wind and explore opportunities in this expanding sector. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) co-hosted the "New York & New Jersey Offshore Wind Supplier Forum" as part of a bi-annual series aimed at connecting local businesses with developers and suppliers.

The event, held on Monday, was part of ongoing cooperation between New York and New Jersey. It provided regional businesses with critical information and a platform to connect directly with new opportunities. NJEDA Chief Executive Officer Tim Sullivan stated, “Through our partnership with NYSERDA, we were able to provide businesses across the region with critical information and a forum to directly connect with new opportunities in the growing sector.” He added that under Governor Phil Murphy's leadership, there is a commitment to achieving a clean energy future.

Doreen M. Harris, President and CEO of NYSERDA, highlighted the shared vision for developing a regional supply chain. “Governor Hochul’s firm commitment to advancing offshore wind development while reducing its cost is bolstered by New York and New Jersey’s shared vision for a regional supply chain,” she said.

A joint workforce development website was launched during the event, providing occupation descriptions, funding opportunities, and training locations related to offshore wind in both states. Attendees also participated in networking sessions among developers and suppliers. One notable session was "New York-New Jersey Partnership Success Story," which discussed collaborations between local businesses and European partners.

Chris Johnston from Riggs Distler commented on the importance of making connections during these large-scale projects: “Our session highlighted the importance of making connections and developing relationships with other like-minded organizations.”

The forum also featured ten companies from New Jersey and New York that presented their capabilities in short pitches to an audience of developers.
