The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) is set to open applications for its Offshore Wind Applied Research Administration Grant Challenge on November 4, 2024. This initiative is a pilot program aimed at fostering research and innovation in the offshore wind industry within New Jersey. A single grant of $6.35 million will be awarded to an Administrator who will develop and manage a Sub-Grant Program for this purpose.
The program seeks competitive proposals from eligible non-profit entities that have experience in overseeing at least one previous offshore wind research and development solicitation. These entities will administer the Sub-Grant Program, which includes providing funding through at least two solicitations to support applied research projects by New Jersey universities and colleges. The focus is on projects with potential for commercialization or innovation in offshore wind technologies.
Applications will remain open until December 19, 2024, with a Q&A session scheduled for November 26, 2024. Universities and colleges themselves are not eligible to apply for this grant challenge but can benefit from the sub-grants administered by the chosen entity.
