NJBIZ reviews Michele Siekerka's decade at NJBIA

NJBIZ has published an article reviewing Michele Siekerka’s decade-long tenure as president and CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA). The piece examines her leadership role and the association's achievements in enhancing the business climate in New Jersey.

The article highlights NJBIA’s role during the pandemic, serving as a vital information source for businesses and advocating for safe reopening measures. It also discusses their efforts against business tax hikes and significant partnerships with manufacturers and educational institutions for workforce development.

“Throughout her stint in this position, Siekerka has helped NJBIA … through a number of different initiatives collaborations partnerships and more,” NJBIZ stated. “In the process, she and the organization have become an even bigger and bolder voice for New Jersey business community on topics ranging from the budget and recent corporate business tax fight to day-to-day issues to the pandemic recovery and everything in between.”

The success of NJBIA's mentoring program, particularly through the NJ Women Business Leaders Forum, is noted as well. Over ten years, this forum has evolved into New Jersey’s largest conference of its kind.

“This issue is critically important,” Siekerka commented. “And it’s not just about ‘the right thing to do.’ You can read any study that’s out there. When you have diversity in the C-Suite and the boardroom, your return on investment is twice – if not tenfold.”

Siekerka shared with NJBIZ that leading such an influential advocacy group provides fulfillment by directly working with job creators.

“It’s incredibly empowering to see how businesses engage their workforce for the good of the workforce, the good of the economy and the good of the state,” she said. “Great leaders make great businesses that make great communities. And we have some amazing, amazing business leaders and business owners here in the State of New Jersey.”
