Port Authority marks decade since One World Trade Center opened

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, along with The Durst Organization, commemorated the 10th anniversary of One World Trade Center's opening. A photo featuring current tenants was released to mark the occasion. Since its opening on November 3, 2014, the skyscraper has become a key part of the rebuilt World Trade Center campus and is now 95 percent leased.

One World Trade Center stands at 1,776 feet tall and is recognized as the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. It was developed through a public-private partnership between the Port Authority and The Durst Organization. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), it set new standards for design and construction upon its completion.

Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole remarked on the building's symbolic significance: “Every time I step foot on the World Trade Center campus, I see person after person taking photos of One World Trade Center, an instantly recognizable symbol of freedom for millions of people across the world.” He congratulated Durst and Port Authority employees for their contributions to its success.

Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton emphasized resilience: “One World Trade Center serves as both a symbol of resiliency — an iconic foundation of the New York City skyline and the remarkable vitality of our thriving campus.” He noted that despite economic challenges and a global pandemic, it remains vibrant with diverse tenants from various industries.

Jody Durst, president of The Durst Organization, expressed pride in their achievement: “10 years ago, we were filled with pride and gratitude to open One World Trade Center... We look forward to many more years of success in partnership with the Port Authority.”

Tenants include major firms such as Condé Nast Publications and Ameriprise. The building also hosts NEXTGEN TV broadcasting services. Its amenities include direct access to transportation hubs designed by Santiago Calatrava and attractions like One World Observatory.

A notable feature is Well& by Durst on the 64th Floor Sky Lobby offering amenities for tenants alongside cultural venues like Perelman Performing Arts Center nearby. A commemorative photo was taken there against a marquee created by artist Zeehan Wazed.
